YouTube announced the launch of a project to compensate copyright holders for using their music to train artificial intelligence. The company announced it on its blog.

The project is called Music AI Incubator and is launched in partnership with Universal Music Group. As part of the program, YouTube will compensate copyright holders (record labels, artists, and others) for the use of their music to train the AI.

Several popular musicians have already joined the project, including neoclassicalist Max Richter, pop singer Anitta and the Frank Sinatra estate.
