Arctic explorers have finally found a solution to an important but difficult problem – they have learned to mention livestock and polar bears. Work in this direction was carried out over time and was extremely difficult against the background of the fact that bears move over a huge area in one of the most inaccessible corners of the globe. Traditionally, this involved sedating the animals and holding tracking devices on them. One of the promising methods of control could be observation from space, but now there is no need for this.

American scientists from the University of Idaho have proposed a method for identifying bears by the genetic material of Lou, whose paws are left in the snow. It turned out that it allows not only to determine the sex of the cub, but also to identify specific individuals if they had previously come into view. If nuclear DNA can be isolated from microscopic epidermal material, a detailed geography of the NETIC PROFILE of the animal can be prepared. On the other hand, the approach can be applied to other species as well. The information obtained is extremely important for making predictions of population development.

The approbation method has already proven its worth, taking no time to achieve maximum accurate results. The Arctic has been losing 13% of its ice every decade for the last 30 years. Most likely, the rate of ice melting will not decrease in the coming years. Because of this living world of the region, there are already problems with the diet. A new method for identifying polar bears makes it possible to observe their presence without disturbing the animals.
