Restrictions for foreigners to receive dividends in Russia have been eased. Now they will be able to receive payments in exchange for investments in the Russian economy, but not more than the amount of the investments themselves. Previously, dividends for foreigners from “hostile” countries were frozen.
The Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia announced the easing of restrictions on the payment of dividends to foreigners. This is stated in the message on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
Before this decision, dividends for foreigners from “hostile” countries were credited to type “C” accounts with limited possibilities of use; in fact, they were frozen.
Now foreigners from “hostile” countries can receive dividends, but they will have to invest in the Russian economy from April 1, 2023. The amount of the dividend payment may not exceed the amount of investments specified in the message of the Ministry of Finance .
