Xiaomi has received approval from the China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for the production of electric vehicles. Production will begin in the first half of 2024, Reuters has learned.
The company has ramped up hiring and plans to produce about 100,000 electric cars next year. Within ten years, Xiaomi intends to invest 10 billion US dollars in the automobile business.
According to the agency, the NDRC has effectively suspended the issuance of licenses to launch new production of electric vehicles due to the deployment of excess capacity and low demand in the sector.
- In Moscow, in early July, they developed a charging station for several electric vehicles at once. The station is capable of charging three electric vehicles at the same time, the average charging time is from 10-20 to 40-60 minutes.
- Developers may be required to install electric vehicle charging stations near residential buildings during the construction phase. This idea is being elaborated by the Ministry of Construction; the department is also considering the possibility of allowing the installation of stations without the consent of the owners.
- Russian electric passenger vehicle makers Motorinvest, Moskvich and Avtotor also aim to produce charging stations. Works are scheduled to start in 2023-2024.
