Video hosting YouTube is testing a new feature for users that will allow them to find a song simply by singing its melody. The functionality is available to some users of the app on Android.

YouTube is testing the function of identifying a song by melody

The service will be able to “recognize” the song not only by the melody, but also by playing it from other devices, much like the Shazam app does.

To analyze YouTube, a melody of three seconds or more will suffice. After that, the service will broadcast a video with the desired artist or user-generated content.

“This experiment is rolling out to a small percentage of people around the world who watch YouTube on Android devices,” the service said in a statement.

It is not specified whether a large-scale implementation of such functionality is planned.

Earlier this week, YouTube announced the launch of a project in which the service will pay music copyright holders to use their compositions to train artificial intelligence.
