Transmashholding has started serial production of the new Ivolga 4.0 electric train. According to the head of the company, Kirill Lipa, this phase has been launched. This electric train was developed jointly with the Moscow government.

The Ivolga 4.0 electric train was introduced at the PRO//Motion.Expo fair. In the new model, the number of doors in each wagon (except the front wagons) has been increased to three. According to TASS, 97% of the parts for this model are produced in Russia. The Ivolga 4.0 can reach a speed of 160 km / h and can carry 646 passengers.

In May, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that the new Ivolga trains will operate in diameters MCD-3 and MCD-4. According to him, it is planned to purchase 95 Ivolga trains by 2025. The fourth-generation model will begin operating on the MCD-4 in late 2023 or early 2024. Sobyanin announced that it is planned to completely replace the rolling stock in the next year and a half.
