Kazan Federal University (KFU) will stop using Microsoft programs, but this will not cause problems in its functioning. According to the university’s press service, the university will instead switch to Russian platforms and ecosystems.

According to KFU representatives, about 50,000 students have been temporarily disconnected from Microsoft’s cloud mailboxes. Video conferencing and training materials have also become unusable. However, the university emphasized that they are prepared for such a situation and that they have started testing Russian platforms such as Yandex 360 and Yandex Cloud since the beginning of the year.

The University will migrate to the Russian Webinar platform instead of using MS Teams for webinar interaction. These changes have been implemented quite quickly and students will be able to continue their education at the beginning of September without any major problems. Thus, KFU has solved the problem of disconnecting from Microsoft programs and is switching to Russian alternatives.
