Education technology company Skillbox (owned by VK) has become a 51% owner of Kespa online English school. The agreement will strengthen the company’s main product: digital career courses.

Skillbox bought Kespa online English school

Skillbox became a minority shareholder in Kespa two years ago, after buying 30% of the school. The rest of the company’s shares were retained by its founders: Andrey Vinograd (10.69%), Inna Givental (10.34%), Pavel Remizov (10.34%), Vladilen Sitnikov (7.72%), Vladimir Garev (5.35%), Alexei. Strakhov (3.09%) and Sergei Neishtadt (1.47%), Vedomosti reported.

The amount of the transaction on Skillbox was not disclosed. Experts estimated the school at 330-400 million rubles, respectively, according to their calculations, the amount of the transaction could be approximately 70-85 million rubles.

  • In January-June 2023, the EdTech market grew 35% year-on-year. The revenue of the top 100 services exceeded 50 billion rubles. The results “were better than expected, given the forecast for market growth of 15-20% year-on-year.”
