Today, another notification on the iPhone caught my attention. I took it in my hands, looked at the screen and was very surprised: the smartphone sent a whole push that the “COVID tracker” application would stop working and would no longer register contacts with sick people around me.

I began to remember if the iPhone warned me at least once about a possible contact with an infected person, and could not unearth a single such case in my memory.

I remind you that the application “Gosuslugi.COVID tracker” appeared in the App Store in December 2020. It was sent by the Ministry of Digital Development and, with the help of Apple and Google technologies, the application was supposed to be sent every time a user encounters a sick COVID-19.

The idea was good, but the production was so-so

First of all, in order for the application to work correctly, the “Gosuslugi.COVID-tracker” must also be installed in a reliable source of coronavirus on a smartphone. In addition, the fact of the disease must be officially confirmed and entered into the annals of the State Services portal. This is where the COVID tracker gathers information.

But!

In order for the gadget of a covid-infected person to start warning others about his owner’s illness, you had to manually enter the application and confirm your diagnosis. Just getting sick and officially writing about it was not enough.

Of course, NOBODY voluntarily labeled themselves as “infected” as a replacement. Moreover, I remember from experience that even those already ill hid their diagnosis from friends and relatives until the very end.

We at the iPhones.ru editorial office also had covid, and several times. And as respectable citizens, we personally notified our COVID trackers about the fact of the disease.

After that, we repeatedly met in the office, at a conference together for 5-7 hours, but it was all in vain.

The COVID tracker never noticed that I crossed paths with a potential carrier of the virus. A similar situation had a similar situation.

I won’t go into now why the COVID tracker didn’t work at all. Equally, how much money was spent on developing and launching this, in an important sense, local application.

I can only say that the installed “Gosuslugi.COVID tracker” eats up an average of 4% of the charge per day. And during the day, some of this figure increases several times: by 10, 15 percent.

Why is that? It is difficult to answer this question, because there is no access to information about the work of “Contact Notifications”, logs are also not indicated for the sake of confidentiality. Very convenient, I do not argue.

So, with a light heart, I deleted the “Gosuslugi.COVID tracker” application from my iPhone. With this, for me personally, the pandemic ended officially.
