Bhavanjot Singh, senior scientific and technical manager at DEVCOM, recently announced the possibility of equipping robot dogs with the Next Generation Team Weapon rifle.

We are talking about Vision 60 (Q-UGV) models produced by Ghost Robotics. They have already been tested with the M4A1 carbine setup and are now ready for integration with a new type of weapon.

The XM7 rifle and its relative, the XM250 automatic rifle, were adopted by the United States in 2022. It is intended to replace the current M4 and M249 models.

According to experts, robotic dogs have the unique ability to overcome various types of terrain where wheeled vehicles are ineffective. They are already used to improve perimeter security, reconnaissance and target acquisition.

Interestingly, this move has caused some controversy in the robotics industry. Some companies, including the legendary Boston Dynamics, are urging the military to avoid using robot dogs as weapon platforms.
