The total amount of dividends paid by the largest companies in the last quarter set a record and reached 568 billion dollars. It should be noted that this indicator sets a new record for the second consecutive quarter: banks and finance companies are more active in transferring profits to dividends.
The world’s largest companies sent $568.1 billion to pay dividends in the second quarter of 2023. This is a record number in the entire history of observations, according to the Janus Henderson report.
Dividend volume updates the record for the second consecutive quarter: in the first quarter of 2023, companies transferred $326.7 billion in dividends.
More than half of total dividend volume growth came from banks. In the banking sector, the volume of dividends paid increased by 19.7%, up to 85.3 billion dollars. After banks, oil companies are on the list of those that pay the most dividends.
The top ten dividend leaders provided 10% of total dividends paid in the second quarter. These companies include Nestlé, Microsoft, Sanofi, Mercedes-Benz, and others.
