The memory upgrade is a significant upgrade as the S Series console does not support internal storage upgrades; the only additional storage option is an external drive.
So the 512GB of the previous version could only hold three or four AAA games. With the increased capacity, the user can store seven to eight of these games as well as smaller indie games.
