When parsing storage, Android counts system storage as anything not included in other categories. This means that the System category contains more than just Android system files. The problem persists in Android 14 and in Google’s Files app.

Additionally, Android measures memory in gigabytes (GiB) rather than gigabytes (GB), leading users to believe that the operating system is taking up more space than it actually is.
