Decathlon sporting goods stores will open in Russia before the end of 2023 after being sold to a new owner. The agreement has already been approved by the government commission, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov told TASS.
The French sports network partially suspended its operations in Russia in March 2022 due to logistical difficulties. In January it was reported about the company’s plans to sell its Russian business: the total amount of the company’s assets was estimated at 13-15 million rubles.
In July 2023, the government commission for foreign investment control approved the sale of the Decathlon chain in Russia to the owner of the Mango franchise, AMP.
