The company is now disclosing the number of requests it has received from the US government specifically for latitude and longitude coordinate data.

Known as “geofence queries,” these queries relate to customer data associated with specific location coordinates within a specific time period. According to the report, the company does not have data to provide in response to these requests. This policy from Apple stems from its commitment to privacy principles and considers it a fundamental human right (at least that’s their official position). Unlike some other tech companies that collect similar user data, Apple does not collect this information, making it impossible to comply with geofencing requests even if required by law.

Apple also maintains a “centralized and standardized process for processing legal requests from law enforcement, government agencies, and individuals worldwide.”
