Rostelecom received 100% of the developer of the Aurora mobile operating system (OS) – Open Mobile Platform LLC. The company exercised the option to purchase 25% of the structures from RBC co-owner Grigory Berezkin.
Under the terms of the agreement, the operator was to purchase the share from March 2021 to March 2028, at the seller’s choice, for no less than 606 million rubles. Market participants estimate the transaction at 1 billion rubles, Kommersant has learned.
In spring 2022, Grigory Berezkin was placed on the EU sanctions list. However, after filing a complaint with the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg in September 2023, the sanctions on the businessman were lifted.
The interlocutor of the publication suggested that Berezkin sell his share, since the asset could be considered related to the state.
- At a meeting held on August 9 in Roskomnadzor with developers of mobile operating systems and smartphone manufacturers, the completion of the Aurora operating system was estimated at 300 billion rubles. The system should appear in the consumer segment in 2027.
