Infectious diseases specialist Georgy Vikulov said that the decision to implement the mask regime in the regions of Russia due to the Pirola species will be made closer to winter. He emphasized that this depends on the level of morbidity. Currently, restrictive measures may differ in different cities and regions of Russia, since Rospotrebnadzors in the regions have the authority to make independent decisions. However, there is no decision yet to impose mass restrictions at the federal and regional level.
The “Pirola” coronavirus strain is a type of “omicron” and often manifests itself as a common acute respiratory viral infection. This does not represent a new threat of concern. Doctors are now working to modernize vaccines and create new, next-generation vaccines to deal with different variants of the virus. Most people tolerate the infection easily, and more than 95% of cases proceed like normal ARVI.
The new variant of the coronavirus, “Pirola”, is more contagious than the “omicron” and has additional mutations. But experts don’t yet see this as the “second coming of the omicron.”
