A Moscow court for the first time fined the American corporation Apple 2 million rubles for refusing to locate the Russians’ data.
For the same reason, Zoom and Ookla, the owner of the service for measuring Internet speed SpeedTest, were fined 1 million rubles for the same reason, according to the Telegram channel of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
Apple, Zoom and Ookla were found guilty under part 8 of article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
The protocol against Apple was drawn up at the end of May, the company was threatened with a fine of up to 6 million rubles.
Apple representatives during the meeting noted that the wrong legal entity was blamed: Apple Inc, for which a fine was imposed, according to them, does not process personal data. This function is performed by Apple Distribution International Ltd, TASS writes.
On June 28, for refusing to locate the data, the court also fined Airbnb's accommodation search service, Twitch's streaming service and Pinterest's photo hosting service 2 million rubles, and the express delivery of United Parcel Service (UPS) for 1 million. rubles
