In a survey of 2,063 adults in July, it was revealed that 54 percent of participants were concerned about the risks associated with artificial intelligence. These views correspond to declining confidence in the reliability and security of existing AI technologies: only 39% think they are reliable and safe, down 9 points from the November 2022 survey.

One notable outcome is growing support for regulations aimed at ensuring the security of AI models and reducing their associated security and privacy risks. The potential misuse of AI in cyber attacks and identity theft is of particular concern (80% and 78% of respondents respectively).

While younger generations such as Gen Z and Millennials are much more excited than concerned about the benefits of AI, gender differences exist; Men are generally more excited about artificial intelligence than women.
