Samsung has resumed financial support to its partners for the sale of the company’s equipment in the Russian Federation, Izvestia writes citing sources from the device market.
The plan, according to which additional cash payments are expected for the sale of the company’s smartphones, tablets and other devices, is back in operation. As one of the publication’s interlocutors points out, financial support resumed in the summer.
Samsung was one of many foreign companies that limited their activities in Russia amid the entry of the Russian Armed Forces into Ukraine. In March 2022, the South Korean manufacturer announced the suspension of the supply of phones and chips to the country due to logistical difficulties caused by sanctions.
As the newspaper writes, foreign structures affiliated with Russian importers and sellers receive from the seller a premium of approximately 1-10% of the cost of the purchased goods.
In this way, the costs of sales and promotions are “recovered,” sources say. We are talking about goods that are imported under the parallel import scheme.
Previously, AFK Sistema created an independent distributor for the parallel import of Samsung, Apple and Dyson equipment.
According to experts, Samsung had to resume support for buyers due to its falling market share.
According to Mobile Research Group, in the first half of 2022, the manufacturer accounted for approximately 27% of physical smartphone sales in Russia. This year’s results for the same period were only 16%. At the same time, Chinese suppliers increased their share from 50% to 70%.
