This feature, which allowed each open application to have its own icon on the taskbar, was removed with Windows 11, making it difficult to navigate between multiple open windows. The move sparked outrage and became one of the most requested features, garnering more than 17,000 upvotes on the Windows 11 review hub.

The company added the “never defragment” option in the Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4 update. However, unlike Windows 10, this feature still displays window titles next to the icon, taking up more space. Users were hoping for a simple toggle switch that would disable window title bars or the return of a familiar feature to Windows 10.
