It is called “Performance Panel” and its essence is the ability to monitor the browser’s memory and processor usage, as well as the performance of individual tabs.
Recently, Google has been rolling out a number of changes aimed at optimizing the Chrome experience, including new options for controlling and managing tabs.
The “Performance Bar” is part of the company’s broader strategy to demonstrate the efficiency, speed and security of its browser.
One of the key features of the new feature will likely be something called Memory Saver.
When this functionality is enabled, the browser allocates resources in favor of active tabs, ensuring that Chrome uses memory only during actual use.
So, if you have several open VKontakte tabs in the application, but you have been using the YouTube tab for the last few minutes, the browser will temporarily free up memory from inactive VKontakte tabs.
