Carlsberg group terminated licensing agreements in Russia

The Danish brewer Carlsberg Group announced the revocation of the license of its brands to the Russian company Baltika. A message about this was posted on the Carlsberg website.

“This is a response to the presidential decree of July 16, 2023 on the temporary transfer of the management of Baltika to the Russian authorities,” the Carlsberg Group said in a statement.

Licensing agreements with Baltika allowed it to produce and sell Carlsberg Group products, including international and regional brands. According to Carlsberg’s statement, Baltika will be able to use existing stocks of products and materials for its production until April 1, 2024.

The Carlsberg Group structures own almost 99% of Baltika shares. In July, by Vladimir Putin’s decree, the management of the Baltika passed to the Federal Property Management Agency.

The Carlsberg group produces beer under more than 500 brands, including Carlsberg, Tuborg, Kronenbourg, 1664 and Baltika.
