The mobile application of the Russian bank Ak Bars (“Ak Bars Online”) has disappeared from Google Play. Last month, the lender was placed on the US sanctions list.

Ak Bars Bank app removed from Google Play

Currently only Ak Bars Trade is available on the Android app market; The service provides brokerage services. Both services are currently available in the iOS app store.

As the bank’s press service explained to Frank Media, the disappearance of the application is due to sanctions by the US Treasury. Representatives of the credit institution recommend using other platforms (AppGallery, RuStore, Xiaomi Store, Galaxy Store).

They also added that those applications that were previously installed will continue to work.

“We recommend that you do not delete it from your smartphone,” the press service recommends.

At the same time, the bank does not rule out that Ak Bars Online could be removed from the App Store. The organization advises disabling automatic updates and automatic downloading of applications.

Before being placed on the US sanctions list, Ak Bars Bank was popular among Russians because it allowed convenient cross-border transactions with banks in neighboring countries.

After imposing restrictions, the bank suspended incoming foreign currency transfers for legal entities.

Previously, apps from other organizations that were subject to sanctions disappeared from Google Play. These include Tinkoff Bank, Unistream and Megafon.
