The report also detailed that governments in 22 of the 70 countries analyzed have legislation requiring social media companies to use artificial intelligence to remove political, social or religious content, thus obscuring government censorship efforts.

Additionally, some government agencies are turning to private companies that create AI-generated propaganda, including fake news.
