All data has been reset. The medical center’s IT system was disabled, but through the efforts of a local engineer and the Federal Director of Information Technology, the server was restored 4 hours later.
A meeting was held regarding the incident, and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Information Technology and Chief IT Specialist for the Department of Veterans Affairs jokingly stated that this was the reason he had a dog at home.
It was also stated that changes were made in the system to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
