Device insurance company Allstate Protection Plans today shared the results of one of its annual drop tests.

The company compared the $1,200 iPhone 15 Pro Max, the $1,200 Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the $1,799 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, and the $1,799 Google Pixel Fold. All devices are made of glass, tests include dropping them on asphalt and immersing them in water for 30 minutes.

If the gadgets did an excellent job with the second test, then the first time everything turned out to be disastrous. When the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra were dropped from a height of 2 meters onto the front panel, both devices broke the first time, although they continue to function. The same thing happened with the rear panels.

However, with folding smartphones the situation changes a little. When open they broke the second time, and when closed (falling on the external display) they broke the first time.
