Now, the Internet Security Office (OSI) has launched a new alert as the presence of this dangerous malware has been detected in our country as well as in other countries. All thanks to a study by Avast, a company specializing in computer security, responsible for detecting this mobile virus.

As stated by the OSI”This campaign, which has so far affected users in Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, France and Spain, consists of TrojanSMS malware, which the company that described it (Avast) calls SMSFactory.

How SMSFactory works, malicious app attacking your pocket

The truth is that We are facing one of the most dangerous malware. More so with the arrival of summer, when we tend to touch the mobile phone more. This is where the problem arises, because this virus is hidden in apps that are outside of Google Play, on dubious web pages, and in apps that allow you to watch free movies and TV shows.

Like this, SMSFactory is distributed through advertising malicious, free streaming and adult content download websites. What they do is redirect you to a website where you downloaded the malicious app.

And be careful, as detailed from Avast, “if left undetected, it could result in a phone bill as high as $7 (USD) per week or $336 (USD) per year”so the joke can be very expensive.

The problem is The application is hidden so that you do not notice its existence. For starters, the app deletes its icon to make it harder to find. And when it disappears, it starts sending infected device data to crooks, including location, carrier, and phone type. If they can, they send instructions to the malware to start sending premium SMS type messages and calling premium phones.

As you may have seen, this is a no-nonsense piece of malware, and if it’s already running in Spain, it’s very possible that you’ve fallen victim to this virus that is exponentially increasing your phone bill.

Fortunately, It is quite easy to detect if your Android mobile phone is affected by SMSFactory. All you have to do is go to device Settings, click on Apps and look at the list of installed apps. In the picture at the beginning of these lines, we see that the application has no name and does not show an icon. If you detect such an application, feel free to delete it.
