This method increases the accuracy of tumor identification by combining the use of high-speed cameras with fluorescent injection.

The basic idea is to use dyes that target cancer-specific molecules.

When these dyes are combined with high-speed cameras, it becomes possible to detect changes in the properties of light emitted from tissues. Indocyanine green (ICG), which was injected into the tissue one day before surgery, was used in the study.

Analyzing data from more than 60 patients with various types of cancer, the scientists concluded that their method could distinguish tumor tissue from healthy tissue with more than 97% accuracy.

This medical breakthrough could significantly improve the results of operations to remove cancerous tumors and at the same time minimize the risk of damage to healthy tissue.
