The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Jennifer Rajkumar, aims to close a loophole that allows convicted felons who are legally prohibited from purchasing firearms to create gun components using 3D printing.

Such weapons cannot be traced and are called “ghost weapons”.

Law No. EU A8132 requires criminal background checks for those who want to buy a 3D printer capable of making firearms.

In addition, the sale of such printers to people with criminal records that would prevent them from owning guns is prohibited.

Rajkumar emphasizes that the printed “ghost gun” can be made by anyone using a 3D printer for as little as $150.
