Xiaomi will launch a new operating system. It will replace the MIUI shell, which is currently installed on all the brand’s devices, said Xiaomi founder Lei Jun.

All gadgets and smart home devices produced by Xiaomi will run on the HyperOS operating system. Xiaomi will eventually stop supporting MIUI.

Xiaomi’s operating system will be based on Android and developed by Vela. The company hopes to present the first smartphone with HyperOS on October 27: it will be the Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi has been developing the MIUI shell since 2010. According to Jun, the total number of MIUI users is 1.17 billion.
