Previously, to send these types of messages, you had to click on the microphone or video camera icon and switch to the type you want. A menu now opens with the selection of the desired message type. This was done to reduce errors: careless users often made the mistake of sending a video message instead of a voice message. This was because the person held down the microphone icon without realizing that it had switched to video.

It is still unknown how quickly the innovation will be implemented in stable versions of WhatsApp.
