Bio-installation has the capacity to clean indoor air, remove harmful substances such as formaldehyde and hazardous dust, and enrich it with moisture. The innovative device was developed based on environmental technology and represents an important step in improving air quality.

According to Tatyana Krupnova, candidate of chemical sciences and associate professor at South Ural State University, an experimental development phase is currently underway, during which the most suitable materials are identified and deficiencies are eliminated. Mass production of the bio-installation is planned for summer 2024.

This is the first project of this kind in Russia and possibly in the world. The installation works by pumping air through a phytomodule containing live moss and plants. It is also capable of monitoring air quality and maintaining optimum humidity levels. Tatyana Krupnova also added that the bio-installation can be integrated into the “smart home” system for more convenient use.
