Historically, Nvidia has dominated the Chinese AI accelerator market, but due to current restrictions, Chinese companies such as Huawei have developed their own chips, including the Ascend AI chips. While they’re comparable to Nvidia’s designs in terms of processing power, they still lag behind in terms of performance and compatibility.

Analysts say the US move could benefit Huawei because it can now compete with Nvidia in the Chinese market, but it faces the challenge of copying Nvidia’s vast ecosystem.

If successful, this could mean another victory for Huawei against US export controls.
