Saudi Arabia will host the eSports World Championship annually. Not only the main cyber disciplines will participate in the contest, but also the most popular games of different genres. This year, Riyadh has already held a Dota 2 esports tournament with a prize fund of $15 million.

Saudi Arabia to host annual eSports World Championship

Riyadh will host the eSports World Championship annually starting in the summer of 2024. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, AlArabiya writes.

“The competition will contribute to our progress in achieving our goals of diversifying the economy, developing the tourism sector, creating new jobs in various industries and providing world-class entertainment for citizens, residents and visitors,” Mohammed bin Salman said.

The Riyadh World Championship will be the tournament with the largest prize pool in the history of electronic sports, the Prime Minister added. The hosting of the tournaments will create 39,000 new jobs in Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh held the Riyadh Masters Dota 2 tournament in July 2023 with a prize pool of $15 million.
