Sri Lanka will begin issuing free visas to Russians. This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabri, on X (formerly Twitter)
In addition to Russians, citizens of China, Japan, India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia will now be able to receive free visas. The project will operate in pilot mode, the new conditions are set until March 31, 2024.
Previously, local media reported on the authorities’ plans to exempt from paying the visa fee citizens of five countries who visit the island more frequently than others.
The Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Public Security presented the corresponding draft to the government.
Applying for a Sri Lanka visa costs between $50 and $60 or 3,050 rubles for Russians. depending on the document request method.
