Google and Facebook have the highest median wages in the entire US economy. We are not just talking about the technical sector. The S&P500 is a US stock index that tracks the performance of a basket made up of the 500 largest US companies. From Tesla to Amazon.
Of these companies, on average, only 150 pay their employees a minimum of $100,000 annually. The lowest wage is offered by Aptiv, an auto parts company that pays its employees about $7,500 a year. In addition to Aptiv, 43 companies in the S&P500 pay an average wage of less than $30,000 per year.
The WSJ analysis was limited to comparing the salaries of 453 of the companies in the index. Of these, 278 companies have increased their average salary in 2021.
Google and Meta pay their employees nearly $300,000 on average. The “typical” Google employee takes home about every year $296,000 Difficult – if not impossible – to do more.
