Meta* has disabled support for WhatsApp on older versions of Android

In October, Meta Platforms discontinued support for the WhatsApp messenger on older versions of the Android operating system. This is indicated by the WhatsApp help center.

Starting October 24, WhatsApp Messenger will only be able to work on smartphones with Android version 5.0 and higher. Before this, WhatsApp worked on older versions of Android: 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.

Meta announced that support for WhatsApp on older versions of the Android operating system will no longer be supported at the end of September 2023.

Meta decides every year to deprecate versions of the operating system.
