Let’s forget about the Calculator for a second now. Yes, it still doesn’t exist – on iPadOS 17, 13 years after the release of the first Apple tablet.

Do you think Apple just jumped to conclusions for this physical app? No matter how it is.

iOS 17.2, the first beta released yesterday, brings a new built-in service from the company. Called “Diary”.

This is an application that allows you to actually keep a diary. As many did in childhood. The difference from a paper diary is that the iPhone will now only periodically offer to investigate it based on your activity, photos taken, geolocation during the day, and so on.

Some people will need the idea for their soul, while others will snort contemptuously. But that’s not the point now.

Just imagine a typical diary. This is either a notebook or even a notebook. How is it similar to Apple products? Probably on an iPad?

Right.

Guess There will be no Diary on any device. That’s right – on the iPad.

What’s the logic? How could it be prohibited to keep a Diary on a tablet that also supports handwriting input and Apple Pencil? What was the problem with making this program available on the iPad in the first place?

Naturally, there will be no answers to these questions. Just as there will be no answers to long-discussed questions regarding the current conditions and the development of the iPad as a device as a whole. The only thing that remains surprising to me is that after all these years Apple still treats iPads as secondary devices.

By the way, Diary will not be available on macOS. Well, okay. Are you planning to fill the iPhone, how will the firmware be released?
