Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Information Policy Committee Anton Gorelkin proposed removing Wikipedia from search results for violating the law on landing. According to the deputy, Russian analogues can replace the encyclopedia.

The State Duma proposed removing Wikipedia from search engines

Gorelkin wrote about this on his Telegram channel. The deputy supported Roskomnadzor’s blocking of Amazon Web Services, Network Solutions and nine other foreign hosting providers that violated the “landing” law.

“I believe that these measures can be extended to another offender: Wikipedia, which has long ceased to be a “free encyclopedia,” wrote the vice president of the information policy committee.

The politician believes that the Russian analogues Runiversalis and Ruviki together are not inferior to Wikipedia in terms of the volume of information, but “they significantly surpass it in quality and reliability.”

Earlier this week, Yandex reported that in the first half of 2023 it had removed from search more than 190,000 links to sites included by Roskomnadzor in the register of banned sites.
