Western Digital announced the launch last Thursday (14) new WD_BLACK SN770M PCIe 4.0 SSD in Brazil. Targeted at laptops, the model promises to offer an easy way to expand the storage of devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Steam Deck by up to 2TB.
According to the company, the new model comes to the country with capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB and has a very compact format. The product, which has an M.2 2230 connector, can also be used to expand the space available on devices such as Microsoft Surface and some Dell laptop models.
WD_BLACK SN770M has sequential read speeds of up to 5,500 MB/s (in 1 TB and 2 TB versions) and a maximum sequential write speed of up to 4,900 MB/s (in 1 TB version). All models feature Western Digital’s nCache 4.0 technology and support Microsoft DirectStorage to speed up the loading of resources used in games.
WD_BLACK SN770M promises competitive prices
Although Western Digital announced that its new SSD is now available for sale in Brazil, so far did not disclose what the official price was. In the United States, the 500 GB version is available for: $79.99 (R$ 393.23), 1 TB $109.99 (R$ 540.71). Finally, the 2TB model requires the following investment: $239.99 (R$ 1,179.80).
The launch of WD_BLACK SN770M is a reflection of the growth witnessed in the portable PC market last year. While Valve continues to dominate the segment with its Steam Deck, the Lenovo Legion Go and ROG Ally have proven to be where many competitors can coexist healthily.
The common element between them is that they all offer relatively easy ways to upgrade your internal storage. However, the products depend on the M.2 2230 format. It’s still not that easy to find — Western Digital is helping minimize this problem with recent launches from Sabrent, Micron, and Corsair.
