Google is investigating an Android 14 bug which makes media files inaccessible. The issue seems to affect mobile phones configured with multiple profiles and can cause the device to be formatted.
Reports about the failure began to emerge at the beginning of October, but Google only commented on the issue this Sunday (29). According to the company, The error may occur on Pixel 6 or newer models.
When an error occurs, primary user is denied access to the device’s media storage. In some cases, a factory reset may be required; this will format the device if accepted, and if rejected will cause the mobile phone to enter a reboot loop.
There are currently over 500 user responses on the IssueTracker website. None of them can share screenshots due to the reboot loop.
Google released a fix
This Sunday (29), Google released a fix for the problem through the Google Play system. Correction It will help prevent the error from occurring on more devices.
However, Google has reported that a system update is on the way. With the solution, there will be no need to format the mobile phone and personal data will be protected.
But it looks like those stuck in the boot loop will have to wait a little longer: Google is exploring ways to recover some of the files. The company promises to share more information soon.
