The websites of the National Payment Card System (NSCP) and the Mir payment system were hacked on the afternoon of October 30. The attackers posted a poster saying the company “paid for the new website with customers’ personal data.” And also about the “new “Beresta” processing system” and a new liquidation tool: cowrie shells. NSPK disabled the sites for some time and denied the possibility of data leaks.
The NSPK press service informed Interfax that the system website was developed and maintained by an external contractor and that it is impossible to access data on it.
The site is just a business card with information about the company’s activities and does not contain any confidential data and is also not related to the payment infrastructure, the company said in a statement.
Processing of all bank card payments and transactions through the Faster Payment System (FPS) is carried out as usual, they added.
NSPK was created in 2014 and began issuing Mir cards the following year. According to RAS reports, the system’s revenue in 2020 increased to 22.23 billion rubles. Net profit reached 8.23 billion rubles, almost 1.5 times more than in 2019.
