Every second Russian dreams of opening his own business in the field of wholesale or retail trade. Other areas include catering, beauty and health, and the production of clothing, footwear or furniture. This follows from a survey conducted by CDEK Shipim, the results of which were reviewed by RB.RU.
At the same time, 75% of respondents cited lack of start-up capital as the main obstacle to starting their own business. To launch 49% you will need from 1 million rubles.
“And here it becomes a vicious circle. Russians want to open a business, but they don’t know that they can do it with less financial investment,” said Olga Kuteinikova, product manager at CDEK Shipim.
Common reasons for not starting a business include fear of failure (50%), lack of specialized education and lack of equipment needed to start a business (25% each), as well as high rental costs (13% ).
The survey was conducted in October 2003 and approximately 600 people participated.
