The Bank of Russia plans to develop a remote identification system using a unified biometric system (SBS). This system will digitize financial, non-financial and government services and make them more accessible to various groups of the population, including the disabled and the elderly. It also encourages competition in the financial market.

With the changes in the legislation, it became possible to use EBS to provide various services to both individuals and legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. The Bank of Russia plans to integrate EBS and the platform for citizens’ business deals as it develops. The biometric data recording process will also be improved and the possibility of video identification will be taken into account.

These steps will make biometric identification more convenient and efficient and provide better access to various services through digital technologies.
