At the international customs forum, Deputy Minister of Finance Alexey Moiseev described the digital ruble as the future cash currency of the 22nd century. He believes that the digital ruble should replace cash and provide ease of use offline without access to the Internet.
Moiseev emphasized that within the framework of pilot projects, digital rubles are more similar to cash than non-cash ones. Banks will not be the real operators of digital rubles; they will simply identify customers and open digital wallets stored at the Central Bank.
The digital ruble represents a new era in the development of the currency and its goal is to make monetary transactions more convenient and accessible, including for offline use.
