“Direct to Cell works with existing LTE-enabled smartphones wherever you are outdoors. SpaceX states on its website that no hardware changes, firmware or special applications are required, while providing seamless access to text, voice and data.
The service, announced last year in partnership with US operator T-Mobile, is expected to be relatively slow by world standards, with speeds expected to vary between 2 and 4 Mbps, but will benefit from wide coverage.
