America’s largest cryptocurrency miner started mining bitcoins from landfills

Marathon Digital, the largest cryptocurrency miner in the United States, has launched a project to mine bitcoins using methane from landfills. CoinDesk reported this with reference to a company statement.

The 280 kW mining project is a test project. If it meets expectations, it will be expanded as part of a policy towards the use of a renewable energy source, such as methane.

Marathon Digital is the second largest holder of Bitcoin after MicroStrategy. The company owns mining farms in several US states.
