Chinese automobile giant and one of the world leaders in the production of electric vehicles BYD plans to build its first European car production plant in Hungary.
This was reported by the international agency Reuters with reference to the news from the local edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
Anonymous sources close to the automaker told media representatives that the decision had already been made within the company. Previously, journalists learned that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met BYD President Wang Chuanfu during a visit to the company in October.
BYD representatives, in response to a Reuters request, said that there are no details yet on the decision, that the automaker is still looking for a suitable place to locate the production facilities and that an official announcement should not be expected before end of the year. .
