Samsung presented Gauss, your own chatbot artificial intelligence (AI), this Wednesday (8). The new bot will be the native assistant of the Galaxy S24. can answer questions, summarize documents, create visuals and prepare emails.
The platform was developed by Samsung Research, the sector responsible for research and development of the South Korean manufacturer. The name “Gauss” is a tribute to Carl Friedrich Gauss, an important mathematician responsible for the theory of normal distribution.
According to the company, the plan is to implement core AI functions for consumers starting from 2024. Rumor has it that Gauss will be one of the main new features of the Galaxy S24 series, perhaps exclusive to subscribers.
“Samsung Gaussian Language, a generative language model, increases work efficiency and simplifies tasks such as composing emails, summarizing documents and translating content,” the company said in a statement sent to the press.
“It can also improve the consumer experience by allowing smarter control of devices when integrated into products,” he added.
Gauss debut will occur in the first half of 2024perhaps after the launch of the Galaxy S24, which is scheduled for January.
Local processing
On the Galaxy S24, some of the Gaussian processing may occur natively. This will happen thanks to the capabilities of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which was announced in mid-October.
The highlight of the new SoC is hardware acceleration for productive AI. The company underlined that the component can undertake tasks from models such as ChatGPT and DALL-E 3 without depending on an internet connection.
Bixby is now smarter
It wasn’t long ago that Samsung announced Bixby’s new cognitive capabilities. The company’s native virtual assistant, the center of its device ecosystem, can now interpret contexts to respond to specific commands.
In the announcement, the company showed that the assistant is not as powerful as ChatGPT, but can meet more complex requests than before. This separation could allow Gauss and Bixby to coexist in the same ecosystem and complement each other’s functions.
